Garlic

Funny garlic comic image

Most of us enjoy some garlic bread in our life, but have you ever thought about incorporating more of it into your diet to benefit your health? I explored that years ago. I regularly eat a raw clove of crushed garlic and want to discuss with you the health benefits of adding more garlic to your diet.

How can I be a vampire if I eat so much garlic?

I’d like to first give a shoutout to Dr Axe as I’m always doing web searches with his website and then any topic of my interest. Here we go with a web search with “Dr Axe garlic” and will be using a lot of information from his website. Also, I suggest you chose web search alternatives like Startpage or others, for your web searchs instead of G o o g l e.

Health benefits

Not only do I really enjoy eating garlic both by itself and in my food, but here are some of its health benefits:

  1. It helps combat heart disease.
  2. It is potential cancer fighter.
  3. It helps control blood pressure.
  4. It treats colds and infections as it is antiviral and antifungal upon its benefits.
  5. It helps reverse hair loss, so this might be part of the reason I still have all my hair, but who knows.
  6. It helps improve dementia symptoms with its unique antioxidants.
  7. It helps treat diabetes.

We further discuss some of the above benefits, but I implore you to further explore and research more at Dr Axe’s website about garlic.

Helps with colds and infections

Garlic naturally contains Allicin which is hughly effective at killing many micro-organisms responsible for both common and rare infections, including the common cold. The anti-microbial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties are beneficial in this department as well. I enjoy it but also use it preventatively in my health.

Let’s learn more

I always crush my raw garlic and let it sit before I eat it as by doing so begins the production of Allicin. I came across this fun article mentioning this under “Garlic Crush” with some other recipes and even some wrong ways of eating garlic that I think are very important to make people aware of. Don’t try to swallow the whole clove, ever :)

Articles about garlic benefits

I also came across that on the date of this garlic journey that there are currently 6,772 peer-reviewed articles which have evaluated garlic’s ability to prevent and improve a wide spectrum of diseases. No, I haven’t read any of them yet but figured to share if anyone was interested in reading any of those.
